@whisky_bro Either of these would be good starting points for Dark Horse Conan as they collect many of the same issues starting with the story “Born on the Battlefield,” an excellent Conan “origin” story by Kurt Busiek and gorgeous art by Greg Ruth.
Dark Horse did its own omnibus line of their original Conan material. The best were in volumes 1-4. These are out of print and were also printed in smaller volumes. The best DH stuff was written by Kurt Busiek, Tim Truman, and Mike Mignola.
“Conan the Gambler” is a story that returns Conan to classic @Marvel Comics form. It’s great to see Conan using his wits as well as his brawn as he’s too often ignorantly thought of as a “dumb brute.” @JimZub and @PatrickZircher have crafted something special. Bring on part 3!
@ComicsintheGA "It has fallen upon me, now and again in my sojourns through the world, to ease various evil men of their lives."
@WTFisHalonCon @DarkHorseComics published three miniseries when they had the trademark license to Howard’s characters around the time of the movie’s release. Nothing since then that I know of. I assume @Marvel now has the license.
@Last_Atlanteans They adapted and “completed” REH’s story fragments “The Castle of the Devil” and “Death’s Black Riders” as well as an adaptation of “Red Shadows.”
Not Conan, but I just love this cover from the Dark Horse Solomon Kane series by John Cassaday. #RobertEHoward #PulpHeroes
“Queen of the Black Coast” #2 coming in November from @AblazePub ! That Crisis on Infinite Earths homage cover! 😲 #TheCimmerian #PublicDomain
Version 015: “Glénat Conan”-
French Conan comics (published by Ablaze in English) and directly adapted from REH Conan stories in the public domain.
