Bonus of using simple color palette textures, you're only uv movement away from different color palettes =3

For example: these cables make up like 90% of the polycount of this piece, but BOY do they look pretty in motion.

Going to continue dropping some of the random art-tests I did for it.

Most are half-finished just to test ideas and approaches and many where trying to work around rendering, perf and simulation issues.

It becomes an exercise in re-inventing the wheel.

It's honestly pretty doable on current hardware, just... not practical with current tools.

Too much re-making basic things just to meet the demands of VR.

You need simple tools to make complex things.

VR isn't simple yet.

One problem with VR at the moment is that basically no existing tools where designed for it.

Physics, Scene structure, Input, Rendering, etc... ALL where not designed to handle what VR needs to be practical.

Multiply that by a game that's a similar scale to Factorio and...

Well... Today is the day I shelf one of my personal projects. I think for good.

I've been tinkering with this project for off and on three and a half years now.

I love the Age of Sail edge breakup effect. Wish it didn't involve an extra geometry pass though.

@AntonHand I have several answers depending on scale:
Big = Not a ship, it's a facility that moves
Medium = Big honker style engines, clearly made in multiple parts and bolted together
Smol = Sleek, sexy, somewhere between a fighter jet and a sports car
Bonus = Dope paint jobs and glowy af!
