@JMDeMatteis Is that a Steve Ditko-esque Spider-Man I see?! Very nice
What sucks is that the sheer goofiness of it all actually got a few chuckles out of me, to which, I’d then be reminded of the opportunities that’ve been underutilized.
It rubbed me the wrong way because just a moment ago in Dark Web: Dusk, this whole “Peter is stripping me of my identity” thing was eating away at him. It haunted him. But here, what was traumatic is treated as trivial. What’s even weirder is that they’re both written by Wells.
So I was surprised when this was all we got out of Peter and Ben’s reunion. You’d think that for someone who’s had what was essentially his brother’s breakdown weigh so heavily on his mind, there’d be a *much* stronger reaction.
If Dark Web had been any other encounter between Spider-Man and Chasm, be it their fourth, third, or even second, I’d have closer to no problems with this event. But their first encounter??
[A thread and then I’m out again]
I’m fine with “what Peter did” only taking up two issues. I just hope that it then fills in the six month time skip too. Six in-universe months is TONS of canon. I hope it’s not just a 4-6 issue arc and then we’re back to the present. It’s gotta be a whole era, 25+ issues imo.
We got the Spectacular Spider-Man back, all we need now is TAS Spider-Man 😎
——there’s one thing I believe us costume loving connoisseurs have to have, get ANYMAN by J.M. DeMatteis (obviously) and David Baldeón! The latter of which penciled the brilliant Ben Reilly: Spider-Man earlier this year (also with JMD). Anyman is the superhero book of the bunch!
