@rope_sand I assumed there would be some context. It's a beautiful piece. Totally legit.
But there are a plethora of great paintings with characters about to go into battle with a funky sideways grip on their sword.
These are but a handful.

But that's hard to justify when the painting is portraying a fight.
And experienced artists, like Ken Kelly, should known better.
Does it bother you when you find an amazing piece of fantasy art and, while examining it, you realize that the Sword is being held sideways; so the blade would hit the target with the flat, not the edge?
