Ah Ah Ah

I'm penciling something tricky for Lavender Jack, so throughout the day whenever I'd get stuck, I'd switch over to this #drawthisinyourstyle panel @used_bandaid put up, featuring Persephone and Hades from her terrific @LINEWebtoon series, Lore Olympus. It helped! I think.

@audkoch @LINEWebtoon @jemale @BekahCaden @ladybb_re I didn't realize it at the time, but this panel is a total wrestling thing. One wrestler has the power in the match, but the other guy just WON'T. STAY. DOWN, and the wrestler just smoothes their hair back and says with their eyes: "What's it gonna take to finally kill this guy?"

LAVENDER JACK EPISODE 30! And if the masked man wants to make it to 31, he'll need to up his game. The opposition is DECIDEDLY heavy.

I showed the ship fight in 2, and here’s the big fights in 1 (soldiers in the woods), 3 (the lizard in a theatre), 4 (the goblin outside a tall castle) and 5 (the sinister 3 in a burning laboratory). They all feel and look distinct, making the story feel full, huge, memorable!

Over the last day or so I’ve been reading MARVEL 1602: SPIDER-MAN (as have you, I’m sure) written by @jeffparker, and I think it’s a perfect example of this kind of high concept adventure comic done well — something Parker sets the bar for in general. Short thread ~ 🕸⚓️🔥

I noticed Jenn doing something cool in this episode (which she may have been doing the whole time and I'm just dense): in some no-BG one-character panels, she'll take a cue from that character's palette and make that the BG color. Seems to ground it as their space, their moment.

LAVENDER JACK IS BACK! We're coming out of our winter hiatus with an extra-sized heater -- there's fisticuffs, tense conversation, and, quite possibly, some murder. Just a little.
