Happy 49th anniversary to GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA, released this day in 1974!
Robots in disguise? Giant guardian lion dogs? MacGuffins? Gorilla aliens? Swing music? Explosions? Interpol agents wearing sunglasses at night? Godzilla using the force?!
Yeah, this movie rules. 😎
“The question now is... what terrifying form will the monster take next?” 🏭
We’re currently seeing a small but welcome boom in indie kaiju films, produced on humble budgets by filmmakers with a deep passion for keeping the genre alive.
Pictured here are 3Y Films’ HOSHI 35, Takeshi Yagi’s AKARI, JIRAI DAIKAIJU IVARA, and Studio Mujaku’s MIDNIGHT THE ERA.
Happy 59th anniversary to the horrific classic MATANGO, released this day in 1963!
Brilliantly written, acted, and directed, Ishiro Honda's metaphorical masterpiece depicts the sickening swiftness with which humanity can crumble into something monstrous and decidedly inhuman.
Happy 51st anniversary to GODZILLA VS. HEDORAH, released this day in 1971!
Written/directed with avant-garde brilliance by the late, great Yoshimitsu Banno, Godzilla’s 11th feature is both an unwavering protest film and a singular psychedelic experience.
SAVE THE EARTH!!
My current mood after getting home from G-Fest, leaving behind a weekend of wonderful people, kind words, endless support and friends that mean the world to me, and returning to my office job and “normal life” where no one around me could possibly understand how great it all was.
It’s official: @waxworkrecords’ vinyl release of Akira Ifukube’s KING KONG ESCAPES soundtrack has my favorite design/artwork of any western kaiju record release to date!
From the vibrant colors to the gorgeous comic-inspired aesthetic, every inch of this set is pure eye candy.
Happy Kai-July 4th to GNP readers/supporters and #Godzilla fans far and wide! I hope you're all having – and continue to have – a wonderful day. Be happy, stay safe... and do your best to avoid sparkler burns. 😉 🎇

Been seeing an uptick in THIS nonsense again.
Imagine being a new #Godzilla fan and seeing images like this pop up on social media. I don’t know about you, but I’d feel pretty unwelcome.
Your point of entry into Godzilla does NOT make you a “better” or “worse” fan.
‘Nuff said.
