It’s official: @waxworkrecords’ vinyl release of Akira Ifukube’s KING KONG ESCAPES soundtrack has my favorite design/artwork of any western kaiju record release to date!
From the vibrant colors to the gorgeous comic-inspired aesthetic, every inch of this set is pure eye candy.
Happy Kai-July 4th to GNP readers/supporters and #Godzilla fans far and wide! I hope you're all having – and continue to have – a wonderful day. Be happy, stay safe... and do your best to avoid sparkler burns. 😉 🎇

Been seeing an uptick in THIS nonsense again.
Imagine being a new #Godzilla fan and seeing images like this pop up on social media. I don’t know about you, but I’d feel pretty unwelcome.
Your point of entry into Godzilla does NOT make you a “better” or “worse” fan.
‘Nuff said.
A new kaiju-centric, kamishibai-style anime called KJ FILE is set to premier on TV Tokyo this July! It will tell a Showa-inspired story of humanity’s efforts to control and understand giant monsters that awaken around the world.
Bring it on!
Happy Alien Day!

James Bama, the legendary illustrator who – among many other artistic achievements – provided the iconic box art for Aurora’s monster model kits, has passed away. He was 96.
Rest In Peace to one of the most talented artists to ever leave a mark on the world of monster movies.
One year ago today, the first episode of GODZILLA SINGULAR POINT hit Netflix in Japan.
It’s hard to believe this astounding series has now crossed its first year of existence. Watching each new episode every week was an event, and I loved every second of it.
So... Season 2?
The next two Mill Creek Ultraman releases have just gone up for preorder!
They include 1992’s 26-episode ULTRAMAN KIDS 3000 (originally titled “Ultraman Kids: 3000 Light Years in Search of Mother”), and the parody classics ULTRAMAN ZEARTH 1 & 2 (1996/97).
Can’t wait!

Happy 48th anniversary to the original GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA, which hit theaters this day in 1974!
With its explosive action and swing-filled soundtrack, the penultimate Showa-series entry remains a colorful and epic kaiju classic.
Happy b-day to the Space Titanium Terror!
