@TheMonsterIsla1 @MvM_Pod It's a retelling of the tale of URASHIMA TARO, the story of a fisherman who saves a turtle & is carried on its back to the underwater kingdom of the Princess Otohime as a reward. He finds 100 years has passed when he returns, & becomes an old man when he opens the Princess' box.
I've never taken the #Oscars too seriously, but I do enjoy seeing creative people recognized for their hard work.
That said (and personal fandom aside), tell me that the film these screenshots came from doesn't deserve at least a NOMINATION for Visual Effects/Cinematography:
Happy 50th Anniversary to ALL MONSTERS ATTACK (A.K.A. #GODZILLA'S REVENGE), released this day in 1969!
Although often dismissed as unsophisticated kid's fare, the film's examination of Japan's economic growth & its effects on children make for a thoughtful entry in the series.
6/13: THE LEGEND OF DINOSAURS AND MONSTER BIRDS (1977)
Long title, fun creature feature! With its unusual soundtrack, foreboding atmosphere, & JAWS-like horror, this obscure gem from Toei is an acquired taste, but in my book, it's definitely worth tracking down!
