The concept art for Cloud and Aerith in #FF7 by Yoshitaka Amano. Imagine if the #FF7Remake had graphics like this? People would have lost their minds!
@poroporokun1 According to the Dragon Ball manga it's hara-hachi-bume, not bunme. I used this as my reference for the pronunciation here.
So it seems Shueisha made a typo. Or Toriyama. I don't have the black and white original Japanese manga to check and compare the two.
@EMailakaMrFox The rope is always there, but sometimes it doesn't have a knot. The very first time the boots are shown, they have a rope and knot around them. You can see the knot in the first image here. But then in illustrations a few pages later the knot is gone and only the rope remains.
@climataku Toriyama drew Goku and Chichi's wedding moment on the title page of Chapter 171. This slice-of-life scene is what the anime used as their starting point for the episodes. So Toriyama suggests that Goku and Chichi wore these clothes. Plus, Goku agreed to marry her at the 23rd TB.
@BrettSfire I don't want to assume their wedding was based off of Western tradition because we have such little evidence of it. The only thing that Toriyama drew was the title page of Chapter 171. Then there's the anime filler arc of Dragon Ball where they chase after Chichi's wedding dress.
Bulma has an 85cm (33.5 inch) bust size. The perfect size for pafu-pafu. Toriyama was nice enough to provide an illustrative guide.
Just finished formatting the intro and first chapter of the Spanish ebook of Dragon Ball Cultura Volumen 2: Aventura, with a translation by @MrKaytos. I'll be releasing it an episodic fashion. One chapter a month until completion. Only thing left to do is pick a publication date.
@JayWall2 Those people need to read my Dragon Ball Culture books. Toriyama repeatedly complains about his editor flat-out negating his ideas with the phrase "Rejected!!" Or he'd reshape Toriyama's ideas in ways he was forced to comply with. This first timeskip is discussed in DBC Volume 5.
@DBZMacky Perhaps, but Toriyama makes an explicit point of showing the reader that Goku has grown taller by age 15 here. Yamcha says, "Oh! You've gotten taller, haven't ya'?" Goku says, "Have I?!" Krillin says in frustration, "Dammit… I thought I had grown taller than you by now."
