One thing I find particularly interesting about @KorenShadmi’s gorgeous HIGHWAYMAN is the way it rejects the tradition of stories on the immortal man: instead of obsessing with the past, like (I think) most other such stories, HIGHWAYMAN looks forward to the future—to the ending.
I am so, so very glad to have CROWDED back. This book is delightful and smart and absolutely gorgeous, and, honestly, I think it’s a current must-read. Certainly my favourite current series.
I was lucky enough to read the first issue of MALL, and, entirely unsurprisingly, I love it. A kinetic, high-stakes action thrill with a lovely twist on the apocalypse and what comes next, featuring cracking writing and lovely art. You should buy it, imho.
SERA AND THE ROYAL STARS #1 is a charming, confident, truly great debut. A lovely, inspired look into a rich, meticulously built world, fast-paced and dynamic, with utterly stunning art. It’s not out until July, but I already need more.
The Eisners nominations are generally great, but I am particularly happy about the love for CROWDED, which might be my favourite current comic. It’s a stunning, hilariously awful look at the world that’s right around the corner, with razor-sharp writing and revelatory visuals.
I had intended to read it a few days ago, but I only just got to LITTLE BIRD, which is stunning. It’s a rich, brutal work, its great writing elevated by some of the best I’ve seen in years, with Bertram and Hollingsworth serving some earnestly revolutionary art. Amazing.
I just finished reading the first arc of CROWDED in one sitting, and it is still absolutely delightful. Honestly, the more I think about this book, the more I absolutely adore it. I can’t express just how much I love it. A blisteringly smart, wildly entertaining work. @ElusiveJ
