The first canonically gay character in #anipoke is this Lucky (Chansey) Trainer from Episode 28. The episode's credits refer to him as "young man" but this guide book from 1998 labels him Okama-san (オカマさん), a somewhat outdated and problematic term meaning "effeminate gay."

One neat bit of trivia about this special is that it kind of acts like a Sailor Moon mini reunion -- Domino is voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi, aka Sailor Moon, while Luna Carson is voiced by Aya Hisakawa, aka Sailor Mercury.

I have never seen a single official source state that these three movies take place in the same continuity. I think that's just fan canon?

It's kind of neat to see the SatoPika codes for Sword & Shield use terminology from the Japanese version of the show like "P1Ka CHUG ET" (instead of "capture") and "P1KA BEST W1SH" (instead of "Black & White") 🙂

One of my favorite 4Kids edits of all time is how they remoed the Gen 4 Pokémon from their "Advanced Battle" opening (TPCI hadn't revealed those in the West yet) but you can tell it was a rush job because Mime Jr's severed feet can still be seen in front of Seviper there.
