In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Sunflora was an unevolved Grass/Psychic Pokemon named "Sanii" (Sunny). But he was later renamed, redesigned, and given Sunkern as a pre-evolution.

Movie-Exclusive Variants: Clones
In the first Pokemon movie, Mewtwo commands Pokemon clones -- most notably, Venusaur, Charizard, & Blastoise. These clones have unique patterns and are significantly stronger than normal Pokemon.
These clone variants never appeared in the games.
Beta Meganium:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Meganium's original Japanese name was Hanaryuu, meaning "Flower Dragon." But his design was later subtly revised, and he was renamed Meganiumu.

Team Spaceworld Member: Nintendo Was Hacked
All 3 major Pokemon beta leaks -- Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Gen 1 prototype assets, and all the Gen 4 beta sprites -- were the result of a hack. The story was just made public late Christmas night.

Beta Delibird:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Delibird was originally dual-type Water/Ice and named "Gifuto" (Gift). But he was later renamed, revised to Ice/Flying, and made less Santa-like.

Beta Kingdra:
Gold & Silver's 1997 demo contained an early Kingdra design that ended up getting revised for G&S's release version. Maybe someday it could return as a regional form or branch evolution.

558 Diamond & Pearl beta sprites just leaked. Presently, I can't say if they're legit, but here's the link: https://t.co/MOIbE3u0tv
The designs are all the same, just different poses. HOWEVER, there are lots of gender differences not seen in Gen 4's final build.
