Lost Pokemon of the Day: Gyopin (baby Goldeen)
Gyopin was originally created for Gen 1, but was cut due to lack of cartridge space. Gyopin returned in G&S's 1997 demo, but ended up getting cut from Gen 2 as well.

Beta Umbreon:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, instead of Dark-type, Umbreon was originally Poison-type and evolved from Eevee via Poison Stone -- an item that ended up getting scrapped.

Beta Politoed:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Poliwhirl evolved into Politoed when exposed to a Heart Stone -- a scrapped item also used for evolving Natu into Xatu, and Eevee into Espeon.

Beta Leafeon:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Leafeon's original Japanese name was Riifi (Leafy). He ended up getting cut from Gen 2, but eventually returned with a new name and design in Gen 4.

In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Tyrogue evolved at level 15, and his original Japanese name was Gongu, meaning "Gong." But he was later redesigned, renamed, and changed to level 20.

The Evolution of Gastly:
Originally created as a giant ball of gas, Gastly was later revised into a smaller ball of gas just 4 feet tall. But ultimately, Ken Sugimori finalized the design into the Gastly we know today.

Beta Blissey:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Blissey was originally named "Happii" (Happy), and evolved from Chansey at level 45. But she was later renamed & revised to evolve via friendship.

In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Noctowl was pure Flying type -- as were Hoothoot and Ho-oh. Possibly because Game Freak hadn't decided yet what their secondary types should be.
