Thx for the thread!
Drawing a parallel with Napoleon's crossing of the Alpes is tempting. For we have our own funny myths too! 😁
Here, the French managed to be romantic decades early... To finally get gloomy & realistic when romanticism was kicking in everywhere else...🥺Unfair! https://t.co/OOWXbc1XdF
By mid-1942 USN air groups had been through a few paintjobs. Here you can still spot the mark of the original red roundel, painted over as per the May 6-7 ALNAV, May 15 BuAer directives as to minimize the risk of friendly fire (red=BAD). Markings were still messy as of June 1942.
Today, a small homage to "Slow But Deadly" & her crews. As one might expect, the men & the machine feature heavily in our game.
Julien gave them a first-class treatment! This one is diving "against the Sun"😏with its canopy open to avoid the fogging of the windshield & aimsight.
Interesting also to see how much (or how little) amateurs knew about the actual designs. Here you can see that, by 1943, the existence of the Akutan Zero was well-acknowledged (wow) - but civilian experts were still struggling to get a good idea of what a Ki-43 looked like..! 4/6
#screenshotsaturday & our SBD. A few days ago you could count her rivets, time to give her a proper paintjob! Like IRL, a game model needs a few coats of paint to get the right feel... Now the lady sure means business!🇺🇸❤️
Nice job by Julien. #midway #warbirds #aircraftcarrier
