Stories tell of old captain red beard and his notoriously crude nature. They say he once pillaged an entire island of its gold. And slayed the dragon its people worshipped. With what was left of its soul, he infused it with his ship. To invoke that same fear wherever he sailed.

Nereids- Ocean

Nymphs of the sea. 50 in total. They dwelled deep in the depths of the Aegean sea. But would rise to the surface in order to help voyagers weather horrific storms.

The doors are open. And the soldiers are at the ready. As each nation prepares to do the unthinkable. Fight one another for the land they once shared. But in a world dictated by fire...they've been left with no choice.

I spent a great deal of effort incorporating the element of the cursed dragon in my most recent draft. As a result, the norse influence was taken to the max. In the form of 100 or so additional pages. How far have you gone to add an impromptu scene or element?

Dryads- Forests

Like all nymphs they were ties to their homes. But some dryads, known as the hamadryads, embodied the very forests in which they dwelled. Such that if a tree died, the hamadryad associated with it died, as well. For these reasons, the dryads were fervent (1/2)

As my current draft reaches its conclusion, there were many surprises. Many races of beings. From humans to elves to dwarves and giants. And in a twist of fate, even a dragon. It was a far more intense story than I expected. And I have no regrets. Only ideas for the next draft.
