Me and the team working on the 3D game decided to go for simple textures to give the game a simple, cartoonish look. So, one of the first things I did was take this graffiti and reduce the detail significantly. I plan to reference games like Anarcute for the textures.
I redid the rendering on this picture to play around with different techniques. I think it looks a lot better than the previous version.

and I decided to draw each other's characters. I gave him my character Nakki and I got to draw his character Lima. She's a pretty cute character and I'm decently happy with the result.
I drew the other main character of my game, Suri. She's a fairy that can shapeshift into a larger more human form. The design is drastically different from what was originally in my head and I'm not sure if it's better or worse. I may revisit it.
here are some random doodles I did in pixel studio on my phone when I was bored. Occasionally I'll do this when I'm out somewhere with my phone and I'm just sitting around.

I made a detailed picture of my game's protagonist, Myra. I think I finally landed on a rendering style I want to do for my character art. Next, I'll need to figure out a simpler style for the game for dialogue portraits, in-game sprites, etc.

To make interactable game objects and characters stand out even more from the background like these thorns I'm thinking of doing them in a kind of different style. Mainly they'll be lined and be more colorful. The background is lineless and desaturated.
Did some background. It all has a blue tint to emulate aerial perspective so that it won't stand out too much when there are more important things on the screen. I'm not satisfied with the colors currently so I'll continue to mess with them as I make more.

Both of the game projects I was a part of are on hold because the other developers are tied up with other things. So, I've decided to do my own solo project. The plan is a 2D action platformer. Here's my first iteration of the protagonist. Feedback is welcome

Tried another style with my character Nakki. This time she's in the middle of changing.
