Here's another FZD assignment called "Between Two Worlds." The goal is to start with an "Earth" bedroom, but add a "secret" room from another realm, reached by a portal. The teen transformers into their persona in this world & small details in their bedroom hints at this life.

A few more examples from our students. We also set the time period between the late 90s to the mid-70s. This gives students the opportunity to carry out proper research and learn from the past (historic/1990s stuff shows up a lot in entertainment design).

"Teenager's bedroom" is one of my favorite assignments at FZD. Students have to design and use set dressing to visually communicate the teenager's interests, hobbies, pets, etc. This might sound easy, but in reality, it takes a lot of design thinking to make the room look fun.

Old concepts for a turn-based tactical RPG game. These are not official work, just demos for students. I have a soft spot for top-down RPGs such as Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment. Looking forward to BG3.

Images from Design Cinema Ep 71. Did these in anticipation for the release of Fallout 4. Fallout is still one of my favorite IPs, especially F2 and NV. You can watch the process here: https://t.co/k8Xk0PuSM6

When the Last of Us came out in 2013, literally half the school started painting post apocalyptic scenes. Did these demos to help students get it out of their system lol. These are fun to do but in moderation. 😅

Demos from a few years back, when students were all getting inspired by Dark Souls. Glad to see some of eventually working on these games, including Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. 💀🦴🗡️

TGIF! Did you ever read a book that was so visually stimulating that it made you want to draw & paint? One of the books that stood out for me was Road Side Picnic. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. Stalkers, alien artifacts and radioactive zones. Too much fun.

FFVI is my favorite, but Final Fantasy VII also holds a special place in my heart. It was the first game I bought after getting into the industry. The art direction and amazing cast of characters will always be in my memory. Here are some HD'ing of my favorite FFVII locations.

Final Fantasy VI had a HUGE impact on me back in '94. Even though the pixel art is simple, what it created in my imagination was massive. I saw snow capped mountains, hunted forests, grand castles and beautiful airships. Here are some HD'ing of FFVI I did for fun a while back.
