Man I kinda want to make a video over why XRD Pot was bad if only so I can use this thumbnail
What are the most egregious examples of fighting game animations not fitting what the move actually is?
For example, Testament and Justice's 5D.
That move that's hitting your feet? It's an overhead. Block high stupid!
Ironically enough I think Strive Potemkin handles this better than XRD because there is no follow-up.
If Extend is always going to be necessary, just put it in the move naturally. I'd rather have no choice than a false or meaningless choice.
In AC/+R, Potemkin had an actual meaningful choice between using just Heat Knuckle or doing the follow-up Heat Extend.
If he chooses not to do Extend, the opponent drops right in front of him, leaving him with amazing oki.
If he does Extend, he gets meter+damage, but no oki.
Noticed this while recording today
It looks like Pot's resting his head on Rei
That's cute
And she doesn't even really need to do that! She's got stupid good buttons with no hurtboxes, one of the best 6Ps in the game, corner pressure that is REALLY HARD to escape for how simple it is, and she's also like THE THIRD FASTEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME.
But Ram? Ram doesn't have anything super executionally challenging. The hardest thing she needs to do is rekka rekka dash cancel rekka rekka shenanigans, and that's only tip top level stuff.
And Happy Chaos, despite his playstyle being super cancerous, is at the very least difficult. You need to manage two different resources while also completing a fairly tight execution requirement for clean hit charged shot loops.
This is probably gonna read as a massive salt post, but to Hell with it.
Out of the top three in Strive (Nago, Chaos, and Ram), I think I respect Ram the least.
