Anakaris from Vsav is a fascinating character to me.
There's a really good character trapped somewhere down there. He's just held back by the fact that he literally doesn't have certain system mechanics. Really important system mechanics as well!
It's really interesting to me.
I am a simple man.
BEEG buttons and BEEG grabs are fun. https://t.co/UniT2LZu3N
@Takanub Oh no you're definitely right, Red Arcueid does a MUCH better job selling what she does rather than Arcueid. The way her hands are posed with her claws, her wild hair, and her monstrous visage all imply that she'll play wild and vicious.
Miyako is another good example. She's got on a kung fu uniform, so she's going to be tiny kung fu girl. Simple, but conveys a lot.
But that's not to say that this is only unique to the Melty original characters. Nero is really good at catching people's attention because his character art does a good job of conveying what he can do, with the massive shadow monsters spawning from his body.
Wallachia is another great example. In a cast of relatively normal dressed people you got this Dracula-ass looking dude and that immediately stands out. You have an idea of what he can do going in. Compare that to Roa who is just open shirt man...
Look at Riesbyfe for example. Right off the bat she gives a clear(er) idea of what she does in a fight. She has this huge cello/shield/spear/gun thing so one can assume that she'll be focused solely around said cello/shield/spear/gun thing.
Same thing with Aoko. She's just "girl in white t-shirt and jeans." That doesn't give any indication as to how she'll play or make a prospective newcomer interested in her except for "She's cute I guess."
And there are much worse examples, like Arceuid. Aside from the fact that she has red eyes, her character design tells me absolutely fucking nothing about how she'll play. There's nothing to go off of!
Looking at Tohno on the other hand, and the only thing his design conveys is... he's got a knife? That really doesn't tell me anything about how he's going to play.
