My favourite of the images of Sheffield created in the early 20th century by artist Walter Hayward Young (1868-1920) for postcard manufacturer Raphael Tuck. He often signed his work by the pseudonym Jotter. In his lifetime he created more than 800 such designs.

By the time these images were taken between 1890 and 1900 some 70,000 people per year were visiting the spa town of Harrogate. It was most certainly aimed at the wealthy. As late as 1911 royalty from at least four European nations visited the town.

A Bit More Like Your Normal Advent Calendar 13 December: Signed up by card manufacturers Hallmark, in 1959 Salvador Dali was to produce Christmas card designs. They were quickly found to be too avant garde for the company and I believe only one was produced.
