@jack_muth @KaijuPictures "Doctor Who" had an ambitious stab at it in 1975 with its "Loch Ness Monster". Although stop-motion animation was attempted, it proved too costly and time-consuming so the on-screen realisation wasn't seen as a success.
It did inspire this gorgeous Frank Bellamy art though...
