The battle to decide the all-new Phoenix is completed. Writer Jason Aaron, Artist Javier Garrón, Colorist David Curiel: Thankfully the conclusion of the unending Phoenix fight, that made little sense, but looked awfully pretty. 3/5

Betsy wants to give Malice a second chance. Writer Tini Howard, Artist Marcus To, Colorist Erick Arciniega: Howard gets inside the minds of these characters better than most and the consistent excellence of To-Arciniega’s art issue-to-issue is admirable. 4/5

The reborns discover the governments new recruit. Writer J. Michael Straczynski, C.P. Smith, Colorist Snakebite Cortez: Things have progressed quickly, as both sides ramp up the physical confrontations, making for some very compelling reading. 4/5

Jonah Hex rides into the town of Salvation where there is anything but that in “Goin' Back to Texas in a Box.” Writers Justin Gray & Jimmy Palmiotti, Penciler-Inker Luke Ross, Colorist Rob Schwager: Gut-wrenching tale, executed perfectly by Ross’ art. 5/5

A rich man hires Jonah to find his missing son in “Giving the Devil His Due.” Writers Justin Gray & Jimmy Palmiotti, Penciler-Inker Luke Ross, Colorist Jason Keith: Gray-Palmiotti capture the feel of classic Westerns. I love Ross-Keith’s realist art. 5/5

Synch, Wolverine and Darwin’s mission completed, seek escape from the Vault. Writer Jonathan Hickman, Artist Mahmud Asrar, Colorist Sunny Gho: Hickman touches on some high concepts, never forgetting the human element, which is greatly aided by Asrar’s art. 4.5/5
