I've just realised that these two (which are up for auction tomorrow!) were actually painted on vintage J. Whatman paper from 1940. I confused the batch with handmade watercolour paper as they're stored together. Testament to the paper's quality that it took watercolour so well.
'Golden sparrow.' A house sparrow with what appears to be a form of leucism, resulting in a pale, creamy, golden colour. Referenced from a photo taken by @ChrisDPiazza. Watercolour with gouache highlights. Painted bird approximately 95 mm long; a little smaller than life size. https://t.co/30IC55ZXxx
It doesn't photograph terribly well, but: obligatory penny photo.
Happy post-Easter, I guess?
Watercolour on Fabriano Medioevalis, painted image approximately 55 mm tall.
European common frog (_Rana temporaria_). Watercolour, 110 mm square.
I believe the phrase here is, 'You decided to choose violence.'
