In This Memory, Servicing Spirit, 2014.
One of my favorite pieces I've done of my mother. I used watercolor, which isn't a medium I typically work in.

These two still frames are currently my favorite. #wip
A little over a year ago, I had done an online residency with @svacontinued. The experience was a good one and I was encouraged to make my first video, which I don't think I'll share.
When I color in my sketches, I generally use colored pencils, which is a material that I've grown to enjoy working with. I typically keep my colors flat, but I decided to try rendering the portrait and I'm happy with how it turned out.

In doing self-portraits for the past few months, I have been researching artists that have used themselves as a model. I'm very happy to have found #KätheKollwitz's work. So many emotions are shown in her use of light and shadow, and in her expressive mark-making.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out why I stopped drawing with #duralar.

Myself as She Hulk, 2021
I think I'm in love with oil pastels.

I took a break from the works that I have going on to do a quick drawing in oil pastels. This is probably the best oil pastel drawing I've done. I really don't use them.

4.6.21
I think that doing charcoal drawings is what gave me my style. I'm not so much concerned with depicting myself exactly, I'm more focused on how I breakdown the face into shapes that look interesting.

I really like that these self-portraits don't look like me.

Mom Before Mother, Patterned, 2021.
As I am referencing photographs of my mother was she was younger, I'm thinking about how I can push my creations further by designing a symbol or something that represents the fact that she's no longer living.
