So, if you ever wanted to play a side-scrolling shooter with Force Lightning, this is for you.
I think it's boring.
NO pile. Next.
I should have noted Alex Kidd was only on the US version of the Mini. Lucky us.
Next..
ALISIA DRAGOON!
Right off the bat you just punch a car and the car poofs into a coin. Movement is lose, and the first door has you playing Rock-Paper-Scissors. WHAT IS WITH THIS FUCKING SERIES AND ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS?
ALEX KIDD IN THE ENCHANTED CASTLE!
Oh god I hate this fucking series.
Compare that to Urban Champion, where ONE SINGLE ANIMATION FRAME, rearing back on the punch before throwing it, gives the punch a sense of momentum and consequently makes the impact feel sick and real.
Karate champion doesn't get that. And NEITHER game gets the sense of sound..
These moves LOOK like they should be wince-inducing.
But there's no weight. It's a multitude of issues. There's not enough animation frames. You push the button and the graphic for the strike happens, with no frames between, so no sense of inertia or gravity.
It actually shows Clark Kent take off his glasses and suit and fly off as Superman.
Okay, fucking got my attention, Taito.
SUPERMAN
And right away, yes the John Williams classic theme song is here.
