Today is officially National #WildlandFirefighterDay, but these two 1938 murals by Ernest Fiene in our Stewart Lee Udall Department of the @Interior Building remind us *every* day of their importance in protecting life, property, and natural and cultural resources.

#OTD 1871, however, Moran finds Tower Fall to be even more bizarre in person, later describing it as “certainly the most weird & impressive scene.” What makes it so unusual? Eroded volcanic pinnacles frame the 132'-drop of Tower Creek. (2/4) #BigPicturesMorans

One of our most iconic artifacts is Thomas Moran’s 1872 painting done after accompanying the 1871 Hayden expedition to the Yellowstone region. Its title is simply, “The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone,” but if YOU could #GiveACaptionMW, what'd it be?
