Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64 was released in English twenty years ago. One of the very few RPGs on the platform, outside of Quest 64, Ogre Battle 64 and Fuurai no Shiren 2
Ladystalker for the SFC was purportedly pitched as a spinoff featuring Alena and her entourage from chapter 2 of Dragon Quest IV. The pitch was rejected so they turned it into an original title. You can still see some resemblances with the main trio.
Tales of Legendia - Namco (2005). A 3D PS2 Tales game with character designers by Kazuto Nakazawa (Samurai Champloo). Not one of the better entries in the series but has an outstanding soundtrack by Go Shiina.
Tengai Makyou III: Namida - Hudson (2005). A PS2 RPG purportedly based on the infamously cancelled PC-FX game. The end result was almost nothing like what was originally planned.
Namco's Tales of Phantasia came out in December 15th, 1995, now celebrating its 25th anniversary. The PS1 port, released in 1998 and pictured here, is the best way to play it.
