A selection of paintings for my forthcoming show at Wells Maltings, Norfolk, Sat 16th - Sun 24th Nov @WellsMaltings
Long-eared Owl fledgling. In May squeaky begging calls of young could be heard around dusk. The young favoured roosting in pines near a track and could be painted with the aid of a scope.
Yellowhammers having a scratch & preen in thick blackthorn - strong wind from SW, just before rain set in
Yellowhammer flock - the regrown barley has just been topped so it's been possible to watch the birds feeding - really enjoying watching the antics of the flock and the wide variation in plumages, esp in the females
Final Weekend of the Exhibition @WellsMaltings Fantastic venue and great to see it so well attended - thanks to all

Some examples of paintings currently being framed ready for my annual exhibition in Nov
Willow Warbler collecting large flank feather from cock Pheasant + giving it a few violent shakes before taking it to nest. Also pre-mating antics - more snippets from their complex repertoire!
Willow Warbler - female nest-building. Impressive work load for such a small bird. I've watched her over the last three days constructing her nest, the first feather for the lining was collected today. The male singing quietly above in the birches keeping watch
