Whatever the case, these adventuring babies seek to fight evil & eat loot wherever the stork takes them, earning XP for every monster slain & GP eaten.
If they earn enough, they level up, growing in both size & skill. You even have to roll 1d20 to see if their gear still fits!
Today, I’m gonna be looking at "Dungeon Babies" by @mockman, a #dnd5e variant where you play "nearly-hapless babies who have the skills and survival instincts of veteran adventurers".👶
So let the great stork carry us onward in hopes we'll one day be reunited with our parents!
"Pride & Prejudice & Centipedes" is an adventure in the back of these quickstart rules, w/ 6 pre-gen characters:
🐝Fairy Veterinarian
🗺️Salamander Guide
🔩Sluagh Guardian
🧐Fairy Diplomat
🗝️Boggart Thief
🤺Sluagh Swashbuckler
But that's history for you & your group to explore.😉
At the end of each Chapter, there's time for "Historians' Debate"--a chance for the group "to sum up what happened & choose how the story will progress."
This includes deciding which Event becomes a Memory for each PC, possibly even switching characters & who is the Narrator.🤓
Back on the Ground Floor, past the Stairside ranches in the Short Hallway & at the end of the Long Hallway are the Quivering Stairs--short, creaking steps that lead into the Basement. 🪜
There sits the welcoming town of El Paso de Umbral: gateway to the lands of the Horde.
🚽In the Bathroom, littlings mine the Great Bowl for material to armor the Porcelain Army.
🛀Tuberdam is built on the edge of the Bathtub & is the House's main harbor. Goods are transported via the waterfall-whirlpool beneath the Faucet, which leads into the Piping.
But now, let's explore the House. Though vast & full of dangers, it's a place of majesty & wonder. Its walls are decorated w/ ancient motifs, its carpets stretch onto the horizon, & the ceiling's been painted w/ indoor stars by humidity. What secrets are waiting to be discovered?
In a time before memory, the Sluagh made a contract with an ancient, nameless Force. This granted them powers of regeneration that allowed them to thrive in the Farbeyond.
In exchange, they must repay any debt incurred from losing a bet. They can let no score go unsettled.
