It dawned on me why I'm excited for the art direction of Street Fighter 6. Reminds me of Kinu Nishimura, who drew the characters as people in naturalistic poses, while still emphasizing their skill & strength. Characters in SF4/SF5, by comparison, feel like walking action figures https://t.co/RxO0JbOINE
What baffles me about the Capcom re-releases in the 2010s was how they felt the need to make all-new art. The art is a high-point for the games of this era, so why not celebrate it instead of replacing? Capcom still has these in their archives if they need to be rescanned, even.
Man/Woman ratios for initial SF rosters... (at launch)
Street Fighter 2 - 7:1
Street Fighter Alpha - 9:2 ⬆️
Street Fighter 3 - 4:1 ⬆️
Street Fighter 4 - 7:1 ⬇️
Street Fighter 5 - 11:5 ⬆️
Street Fighter 6 - 11:7 ⬆️
Aside from the SF4 dip, it's always been trending closer to 1:1.
The "launch rosters" for Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter 3, and Street Fighter 4. Making all-new assets is very time/resource-consuming. https://t.co/UztQhG99LT
