.@bobservo's and @hEnereyG's podcast on Sailor Moon today reminded me of the fact that Junichi Sato and Kunihiko Ikuhara worked on the anime Maple Town and its sequel, Palm Town. Two anime that I felt really helped them develop the well-known aesthetic for Sailor Moon.

Speaking of Palm Town and Sailor Moon connections, there are so many character designs that just scream "furry version of one-off Sailor Moon character."

The staff of the children's anime Palm Town would later go on to make the Sailor Moon anime. That connection become all the more clear when you look at Palm Town's backgrounds.

Pour one out for the forgotten 2000s battle shonen anime that had brief yet devoted followings in the West.
