This alternate Brotherhood of Mutants is a fun twist. Would've liked more of this for sure.
if you had to guess, with no more context, who would you think this is?
I always loved this line.
"...those eyes... they didn't look at you or even through you... they dissected you."
Back to what I was saying off the start. Jack's death is a willful act of defiance. He throws the fight, he doesn't die. But more important to him is that Fixer doesn't go after Matt. Once he realizes Matt can stand up for himself, Jack can stand up too. It's so good.
Can't believe they had this great cover and just blocked the DD logo on Matt's chest with the title. Would've been better to run it right across the center of the image.
The story stands on its own really well. It doesn't rely on deep knowledge of Daredevil at all. But I do enjoy these little nods to DD/Marvel continuity - Josie of Josie's bar, Turk - always a punk, and the other boxer being "Crusher" Creel - later the Absorbing Man.
This conversation, from Secret Empire #1, makes it all clear, but by this point you've read 15+ issues hoping to see a glimpse of good.
And that's why it feels abusive. You keep lying to yourself that he's still a good guy, as he keeps proving you more and more wrong.
