Quick doodle of Acario I threw together for fun.
He looks a bit younger here than the current official design. He looks less like himself the younger he is, haha. It's like he's been waiting his whole life to turn 30. :'D
Rendered. I learned so much doing this. My entire concept of the universe has been reoriented fmylife. I think this might have a good impact on my comic though because holy fuck watercolor fringe cheat is OP. https://t.co/za0GWl4rWh
I tested drawing my character in Persona style a-la Soejima.
I found out recently that he does full rendered work, so I'm trying to figure out how he gets from his punchy blacks to his watercolor-soft final pieces. I think he uses the water fringe layer a lot to get texture.
Self indulgent renderfest. WIP of an illustration I can't finish properly until I finish reading a book on how cast shadows work. 😂
CW: Self harm
I ended up totally redoing the drawing from the original thumbnail. I am going through Scott Robertson's book on rendering to learn cast shadows properly before continuing with this piece.
Started a new illustration. Gonna grab ref tomorrow and actually draw everything in properly. Mostly just laid out the composition, values, and pallet.
This is going to be kind of a dreary, depressing pic.
So, after a lot of contemplation, I've decided on changing my main character's name from Adrian to Gabriel. I think it fits better, and I don't like both main characters' names starting with "A."
His design and personality has changed so much. (I also suck less at art)
New illustration I'm working on. Been focusing more on having good compositions. I find I naturally gravitate towards a sort of painterly method for blocking things out. I then go back and line it out. And then I may paint over the lines, thereby wasting my own time. 😂
More composition and environment studies. First one was 15 minutes, second one was 20. I'm learning so much about color and atmosphere while I do this.
First is a shot from Pan's Labyrinth. The second is from Blade Runner 2049.
