WOUND OF MAN.

I painted this gruey hellscape for my pals in @Shrykull1 and the idea was to capture some kind of awful pain world of anguish (aka Britain). I based the feel on some imagery in #CliveBarker's works- where #horror meets the #surreal a little.

HORIZON BREAKS.

I painted this for a competition that was running in #HeavyMetal magazine. Obviously I didn't win, but I did get some kind of runner up position where the image was to be featured in the mag.
These days I advocate not engaging with comps!

I painted this image for scotts #psychadelic rock band #DeadOtter. I really wanted to push the perspective of the picture as if it's punching through reality.

ANCESTRAL FURNACE.

Here's another image I painted for #Firelink, depicting the #BedOfChaos from #Darksouls as a fire witch creating a spectral fire inside and ancient tree.
I really liked taking this down such a brushy direction.

MASS MEMORY I - III

As a kid I was obsessed with the image #JohnHarris painted for the cover of the #ZX81 instruction manual. It was so futuristic and evocative!
These images are a reconstruction of that, then two further extrapolations into the world it made me imagine.

THE COCKATRICE!

This was created for the band #Eluvianm whom I've worked with a number of times. They wanted a more playful image for this EP cover than the serious tone of the two albums I'd done for them. So we went for a 'brave' knight absolutely legging it.

Tony.

This is a portrait of my friend, the celebrated animator and lego-nudger, Tony Mines.

I met him at university over twenty years ago, and since then he's been an excellent foil, wind-up merchant, and friend.
Sadly Tony died recently, a tragically young victim of cancer.

A much more recent #dune picture here. I always feel there a fantastic sense of the exotic in #Herbert's book, that typically isn't there in any of the adaptations. I tried to show the richness of #Fremen culture - full of Arrakean promise.

SPICE MASS

The client for this painting wanted a gift for their partner (a fellow #dune fan) in the form of an enormous #fremen and #sandworm scene. They wanted the #Schoenherr style worm mouth as depicted in the #Lynch movie.

The Vessel Builder.

Just some personal work from time between projects. I enjoy combining a classic or academic style and aesthetic with my love for #Scifi to make futuristic images that retain an #ethereal mood.
