Ataru's mom's infatuation with Rei, manga v. anime -Love the roses and sparkly eyes the anime gives her! 🌹✨

In the anime, Ataru's mom goes up to his room because she's upset at the noise everyone is making instead of just curious as to whether Shinobu's come over.

The anime cuts Lum beckoning Ataru to bed while taking her bra off, replacing it with a similar scene of her yelling at Cherry that she and Ataru about about to go to bed together instead.

The first addition to the adapation comes after Cherry's omen, where we pan up to see a shadowed Rei jumping over rooftops, ominously preluding the titlecard.

Today's episode of Urusei Yatsura was a Rei-ot! Let's go over some of the adaptational highlights/changes from the manga!

In a change from the manga version of ch 51, the end of the recent episode teases that Ataru's dad will be going instead of Ataru's mom, meaning that Ataru and Lum's OG seiyuus, Toshio Furukawa and Fumi Hirano, will be reunited and interact as their new characters next week! 🤩✨

Rei is introduced in the teaser scene at the end of the episode sitting in the tree he and Ran usually hang out at that is first seen in chapter 171 “Anko Pathos, the Taste of Love” His Lum doll seems to be the same inflatable doll from chapter 7 “A Contemptible Good for Nothing”

Lum and Ran reminiscing about their childhood wish on a shooting star to meet the man of the dreams, manga vs. anime.

Next week's episode of the Urusei Yatsura reboot will adapt chapter 55 "Transfer Student Close Call" and chapter 58 "Farewell Party Close Call" - Ran has arrived!! 🔥💖

In exchange, however, the reboot retained pretty much all of Kurama visiting the classroom, which was mostly cut from the original anime episode. They even tried to recreate this great world bubble sight gag from the manga!
