One hundred years ago today, arms were granted to Sir Charles Dunbar Hope-Dunbar, 6th Baronet, of St Mary's Isle who had successfully petitioned two years ealier for a Nova Scotian baronetcy which had been dormant since 1686.

The Lord Lyon attended the Graduation Dinner at the University of Aberdeen. It was presided over by V. Rev Professor Iain Torrance Kt, Pro Chancellor who spoke of the extensive work of the University .The concluding toast “Bon Accord was given by Lord Dean of Guild Colin Taylor.

On the 6th June in the Caird Hall Dundee the SSAFA Annual Concert took place with an array of local and national entertainers. The Lord Lyon as a guest gave the vote of thanks. The event was in aid of the Rosendael Veteran Residence in Broughty Ferry and the Erskine House.

April 11th is also National Pet Day. Here is the fine coat of arms granted in 1979 to Lieutenant General Sir Michael Gow, Governor of Edinburgh Castle. The crest shows his faithful pet, Frodo, holding the key to Edinburgh Castle where Frodo is buried in the pets’ cemetery.
