The Lord Lyon has granted arms to the Aberdeen Association of Civil Engineers which has given permission for them to be displayed. The painting is by David Allan. The blazon is "Per fess Argent and Gules a roundel counterchanged and chief enarched of the second."

On the 25th January in Glasgow the Lord Lyon proposed the Toast to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns at the 149th Anniversary Dinner of the Bridgeton Burns Club.

The Royal Over-Seas League held its St Andrew's Night Dinner in the Royal Scots Club, Edinburgh . The Lord Lyon gave a lecture on the "Symbol of St Andrew in Scots Heraldry" and was honoured to propose the Toast to "St Andrew and Scotland."

On the 9th November the Lord Lyon attended the Rededication Service of Morgan Academy’s Roll of Honour. The original book was destroyed in a major fire in 2001. The School’s Roll of Honour for the Fallen in World War II contains 102 names.

The Lord Lyon attended the International Clan MacNicol Gathering in Portree, Isle of Skye under the leadership of their Chief John MacNeacail of MacNeacail and Scorrybreac. The Lord Lyon is an honorary member of the Clan as his maternal grandmother was a Nicholson.

The President the Rt Hon Earl of Dalhousie and the Committee of the Scots Guards Association , Dundee and Angus Branch, welcomed the Lord Lyon to the top table at their 92th Annual Dinner. A message to the Association was read from HM the Queen who is Colonel in Chief.
