I long for the days when SEGA tried to actively replicate Yuji Uekawa’s artwork in 3D. https://t.co/jlOf2walFV
@StarlineOdyssey @news_merch Those Sonic and Tails stock art aren't new. That Sonic is similar to another stock art, most likely from the same style guide.
@MG4M3R No, the Amy design you're referring to is by Sango Morimoto. Morimoto would frequently go off-model and do his own thing. Norihiro Matsubara's artwork used Amy's CD design and a Charmy design (May 1992) that's closer to his game design, predating Morimoto's design (Sep 1992).
@chugway1138 No, Knuckles wears closed-toe shoes. For instance, in his 3D renders his fur texture doesn't extend to the red part of his shoes, not to mention the luster sheen effect on them.
@Izuki67545946 @DuckDealer1 @Kaiitwoo Eggman was talking about Ulala from Space Channel 5, she has a white hovercar shaped like an egg. The PA announcements also reference Axel from Crazy Taxi by talking about a yellow car with the license plate "1NOM155".
@SonicLorepost @giugabs For the clothes, the leaked 06 script states that Blaze's outfit is Takarazuka inspired; an all-women Japanese theatre event. I've heard it speculated that the pattern on Blaze's cloak is similar to the design on Silver's bracelet, strengthening her connection to the future.
@CroixMango @MegaDriveBrad Yuji Uekawa designed the Billy Hatcher characters, so if you take those characters and throw them alongside the Sonic cast, they fit perfectly. It's the same design philosophy after all. Uekawa also drew Hatsune Miku some years back.
@Harrinsain I'm getting more Uekawa "Sonic" human vibes myself, considering the girl is not wearing a helmet like Sonic Man.
@chaomix @guywiththepie He's also furrowing his brow and slanting his eyes in that render. The CG SA models were trying to emulate the 2D style, so most of the factors present in the 2D art can be demonstrated in the 1998 renders. The top of "modern"'s head still protrudes outward more.
