This one is weirdly lit, so I'm being careful not to completely blow the value grouping out of the water. Can't wait to get into that rim lighting.

#Smaugust Day 14: My focus is a little off today and yesturday on account of poor sleep so this one might take a little longer than anticipated. but progress is progress regardless!

Values. Values. Values. I'm gonna try and solidify the mid-ground at some point tomorrow but the focal points are holding up imo. 🤷‍♀️

Smaugust day 13: Got a majority of the background rendered today. Need to clean up a few areas but I'm enjoying the atmosphere in the peace and it's nice working with vivid colors and I always like rendering clouds. Hoping to finish tomorrow. 1/2

I'm continuing my adventures with value grouping and think I'm getting the hang of it. It looks like the progression of objects in the painting is checking out even when simplified, give or take areas of highly reflective materials. Even they still stand out. 2/2

Smaugust Day #12 : Continuing "Mineral". I wanted to work with a lot of colors and something very dreamy. I'm pretty set on my color rough for this today. 1/2
