@17thCenturyLady @JaneDismore @ARebelHand @MargaretPorter @MuseumCromwell @jdmccafferty @cheapsellotape @swiftstory @SueCooperBridge @maggs912 A love story. The english Stuart ladies were very enamoured of the dashing & handsome french born highwayman Claude Duval. Once ‘underobbed’ a gentleman when his wife agreed to dance the "courante" with him. Sadly this did not prevent him ending his days on ‘the tree’ in 1670.
@joinLordGrey @17thCenturyLady @MuseumCromwell @jdmccafferty @Cromwellorg @Cromwells_House @DrRJWarren @_paullay @EnglishCivilWar @Sealed_Knot @Royal_Armouries @civilwarcentre That’s an interesting take. Here are Rupert, Peg Hughes and Ruperta Hughes (Howe). A pretty strong likeness I’d say. Rupert is said to have given Peg around £20K’s worth of jewellery during their relationship - that’s probably around £2.25 million in today’s money.
@18thCent_Kitty @britishmuseum My birthday month. I like it better as part of Vendemiaire though.
