Kakashi was a major catalyst for growth in Gai’s childhood, and Gai’s relationship with Kakashi affected his relationship with Dai a lot, and vice versa. Something I really love about kakagai is Dai's connection to it.

@spiiiciest @mightguyssimp Exactly! Gai is always trying to look strong and consider other people's feelings. It's nice to for him to be able to let his positive attitude slip and let himself admit to his worries in kakagai. He trusts Kakashi with more than just backup in a fight.

@mightguyssimp One thing I love about kakagai is that Kakashi's the only person that Gai feels comfortable being open about his worries with. Gai could only talk to Kakashi about Dai or about feeling old, something he admitted to Kakashi when he wouldn't even admit it to himself chapter prior

@spiiiciest @mightguyssimp Me too! Kurenai and Asuma have been Gai's childhood friends since way back, they're really sweet! I love all their dango scenes together! I like how close they became over the years!

And Asuma really shot up, makes the other two look tiny next to him when they're all grown up.
