If anything, Toadette is lucky considering she dissapeared for a bit after the Wii era, and then was suddenly was brought into games besides the usual Party/Kart/Sports spin-offs.

Odyssey was a godsend. But even then, If they don't want to create entirely new characters or species, I'm still wondering what happened to these guys. There's more to the Mario universe than toads, and even then - I remember when Toads used to be more distinct and varied.

Both mascots were created for very similar reasons, Yet Mario has managed to stay relevant BECAUSE he kept experimenting and evolving with technology. And to this day, I still frequently meet people who falsely consider the series "the savior of gaming as a whole".
