My first novel in 8 years comes out in August, and if you preorder it today from Barnes & Noble you get 25% off with the code PREORDER25!
Anyway! Then I...painted this. I didn't take any progress pictures of the painting. It's oils on watercolor paper, something like 20x24.
And that's it.
I kept going, trying new heads. I think I sent the AD (Zack Stella) at least a few of these, and he chose the last one, so I made a tentative color study.
The prompt was: This is a movie poster shot of AJANI, his double-sided axe held at the ready. He might be roaring dramatically or simply looking heroic & noble. Behind him is a stained glass window depicting a beautiful field of grass. A stylized...SUN hangs in the window's sky
So I've been painting Magic: The Gathering cards again here and there, as a treat. I've learned I'm allowed to share this painting I did last year of a character named Ajani. Google if you want to see how a few dozen other artists have illustrated him.
In this *very* rudimentary sketch I'm attempting to make a giant kind of a lantern-jawed bro, and it's funny how my mind revolts at any giant who doesn't basically look like the ones from those old Mickey cartoons.
This is, to the best of my recollection, what it looked like. It wriggled between his fingers. I urged him to put it down.
I understand it's #goblinweek? I don't understand what that is. But here is a little paper goblin I drew a few years ago.
@CerebroCast That is great. I was a fan of this one, too, but I don't think it lasted very long.
