In the 1950s Edmund Teske made some incredible double exposure or 'superimposition' photographs. Almost like the iconic title sequence for True Detective - landscapes within people.

The Fantastical Sci-Fi illustrations of Ed Emshwiller (1925-90). An interesting theme in his work is people in head bubbles of one kind or another. Well, it was the early 60s after all.
