I went and made some touc-ups to this by adding in shading. The way this artstyle handles shading is a bit interesting, although I do wonder how much of it is just a gradient. Aslo touched up the right arm as I wasn't as keen on the original. Regular and transparent below!

Also a version that's more on brand for Wario.

So I wanted to mess around and see if I could do some art in the Mario & Luigi art-style, or as close as I can manage at my skill level, so I made an OC.

Her name is Soleil and she does have a partner, I just need to draw her next.

@FalKoopa_ I think I just want Volke's RD design really. He looks much cooler.

They could of course stick to original characters like Lana and Duke, or introduce someone new. I like to think #NewCaptainN has a counter-part in a blue jacket with an 'S' on it. A cheeky Sega nod but also together they could be Joy-Cons with the 'S' standing for Switch (14/15)

On the topic of partners, I envision it like Kingdom Hearts where each Nintendo world would let you pair with that worlds hero. However, Pit would be permenant like he is in the show. I'm not sure on the 2nd partner though. Mega Man and Simon are unavailable. (12/15) #NewCaptainN

The Switch would act as a menu for the player and serve other contexts like taking video messages. It could talk, like the Game Boy did in the show, but it might be fun to have a helper character communicate through it instead. One of these maybe? (11/15) #NewCaptainN
