In understanding #space, we have a vision local and one global.
The geometry of our immediate vicinity appears to us (and is) Euclidean, but in the astronomical study of galaxies Euclidean geometry is insufficient, and more sophisticated geometries are needed.

This is a high-resolution map of the #MilkyWay's magnetic field, made by the Sun-orbiting Planck satellite.
Color coded, the 30-degree wide map confirms, among other things, that the Galaxy's interstellar magnetism is strongest in the central disk.

Yes, I'm really fascinated by this computer animation.
It's so realistic!
According to an estimate by Pliny the Younger, witness of the phenomenon, the height of the eruptive cloud, indicated according to modern units of measurement, may have reached 26 km.

My students: Could we breathe Saturn’s #atmosphere?
Me: No. #Saturn’s atmosphere is composed mainly of
hydrogen and helium.
Such an atmosphere is not poisonous to humans, but neither does it provide the oxygen needed to sustain human life.
