HKers are determined to 撐 to the end... 😭

More doodles for Apple Daily coming through.

For those wondering, the mongoose on the right is one of the HK pro-democracy movement's Divine Beasts, a Feng Shui -related cuddly mascot that represents getting rid of CCP influence in HK. 😅

And this has now been immortalized in protest art!

Keep the faith, HKers!

Two years ago, on June 9th 2019, more than a million HKers marched for our rights, kicking off the Revolution of Our Times.

We haven't achieved what we wanted.
We've lost freedoms and friends along the way.

But we're still here. Add oil!

HK artist 謝曬皮 Tse Sai Pei actually made a powerful version of this iconic 1989 photo last year, updated for 2019/2020 Hong Kong.

"Apparently, you can have an assembly with just one person." 😬

One of the clearest influence of June 4th on HK protest art is our Lady Liberty statue. Think of her as the 1989 Goddess of Democracy, but updated and refreshed for modern times. Which, unfortunately, means a hard hat & respirator. 🥲

Those who fought for their rights in 1989 didn't succeed, but did inspire generations, including...

Those who fought for their rights in 2019. They too lost. But the shared dream lives on.

And there will be others after us. One day, we will win.

"June 4th - Wear black clothes, black facemasks, turn on flashlights on your phones.

For those still persisting - use your own methods, in your own posts, to continue the fight."

NSL might have taken away our vigils. But HKers will find a way to remember and resist.

HKers started out on this quest for democracy alone, only with stories of prior generations' successes and many failures to go on. But on the way, we found strength in our own people, and somehow formed an actual Rebel Alliance...!
