Maybe those who died and fought for democracy in 1989 would not have wanted to see their history be ossified anyway. Even if we no longer have the Pillar of Shame, memories of tears and hope for change will live on. 😢

Because Prince Edward station became a focal point of HKers' grief, there began a passive aggressive war of flowers (?) between the people and the govt. The police would tear down flowers, art etc. dedicated to the dead...

The scene inspired a lot of art. There’s something about the utter helplessness of the people that resonates. None of us ever imagined the act of going about our normal lives would be met with state violence...

And of course, Lady Justice. No longer truly blind, but definitely blinded. A potent symbol for the sorry state of rule of law in HK, and the dim prospects of K, or any of the HKers who have been injured by the police, to ever receive justice.
