Evening doodle. Saw rain for the first time in months. Not in Texas, but I heard Austin got a few drops too which is so much needed.
This was a fun one 🔥
"The Light! It Burns!" illustration done for Murder at Castle Nathria set for Hearthstone.
Many thanks to art director Jim Nelson and the HS team!

Sketch is on my Artstation!
Looks like this #Hearthstone card I illustrated for has been revealed. Plot of Sin, with a fun infused state!
One of my cards for #hearthstone's Murder at Castle Nathria set was revealed! It was fun going for a sinister lighting scheme I don't usually try. High-rez and sketch are on my artstation.
In sweltering heat, remembering the painting trip I did with mom 3 years ago, aka in a different timeline.
Old painting done referencing photos taken from the beautiful Amalfi Coast area in Italy, oil on canvas board.
Planning out next steps. I'm so noob at character art that I literally have no idea how to sculpt stylized clothing, other than vaguely having heard of "shell modifier" and the like. Will need to dig into a new round of tutorials. Recommendations appreciated!
3D doodle in progress. Should probably do a paintover design of outfit or something.

step 5: I added in local colors and the warmth of the fireball spell. It's pretty easy to make the colors look like a christmas tree, and I'm not sure I fully got out of that space, but I added purples and blues to try to tame it. I painted on top of this to get to the final.
Steps 3 and 4: cleaned up value block-in, and a quick color-overlay onto grayscale to get an idea of colors. I airbush in the colors in this pass typically. Tried brighter oranges and greens but they looked super bad, and I tuned the "base" back to add more colors carefully.
