Macoun was Assistant Director of the Geological and Natural History Survey of Canada

July 1848, Queen Victoria visits the #Kew #Museum:
"Sir William Hooker ... took us over the ... Museum which is extremely well arranged, though still quite in its infancy, but the plants are there, & samples of everything that can be extracted or manufactured from them."@Kew_LAA

Others come from #Botanische Wandtafeln (1874) by Carl Kny, an associate professor of #botany at the University of #Berlin.

Kny sent these plates to Kew’s director Joseph Hooker in the hope that he would “deem them worthy of a corner in [the] botanical museum”.

Some are plates from The Anatomical and Physiological Atlas of #Botany (1880) by Arnold & Carolina Dodel-Port, a professor at the University of Zurich botany and his wife, a naturalist.

Carolina corresponded with and shared proofs with #Darwin before the Atlas was published.
